I never liked Transformers before. Too many people tried to push it on me for too long, and too many people expected me to instantly love it, and I rebelled, and besides, the animation was like 'eeh' and I didn't have fond childhood memories of it to deaden the 'eeh' reaction to the animation.

But.

The new movie.

Okay not only was all the product placement for stuff that I lurve anyway (omg the Strokes! Omg VESPA! omg omg omg!! and yay mountain dew tasty yum yum favorite soda pop ever)...

...and not ONLY did the kid look like Wil Wheaton...

...but OMG I LOVE OPTIMUS PRIME HE'S MY HERO FOREVER.

*happily* I nearly went catatonic from joy when I finally got to see the VHS of that, back when I was in seventh grade...

And was SUPER-PISSED they killed off a whole bunch of my dudes. Oh well, if Oppy came back, I'm in denial about the rest. >:)

Prime wins people over. It's just... something about him. Nobody can say they dislike the character of Optimus Prime without either A) lying or B) being completely insane.

People want Optimus. They just do. The world would be a better place with him in it.

I watched TF as a kid., meh. I never really got into it. But I must confess that I really REALLY wanted to see this movie. REALLY. despite Michael Bay, or perhaps because of him. His history is full of loud explosive stupid films. And ya know what, that's sorta what this movie needed. That and a script that had some sense. But see whereas you really need to hgave some reason for humans to be fighting and chasing and exploding shit up, when it's 50 ft tall mechs, you don't need a reason. they create themselves.

and damn if this wasn't a fun movie.

Go Starscream, bring on TF 2!
